The performance by Sebastian Dreyer and Papia Ghoshal, who hail from Germany, enchanted everyone by their performance. The performance started by a soulful performance by Sebastian Dreyer. He performed a few songs on the sitar which ended with a rapturous applause. The fusion of both Sebastian Dreyer and Papia Ghoshal for the Baul blazed the stage and blew away everyone’s mind. The audience whole heartedly participated in the performance and cheered the artists with resounding applause throughout the performance.

Music: Papia & Baisnav Tantra Papia Ghoshal and Baisnav Tantra

Papia & Baishnav Tantra is a music group formed by artist and poet Papia Ghoshal to present rare traditional Indian music to the outside world. This music is gradually disappearing and Papia, classically trained at the University of Calcutta in the Indian vocal styles, is bringing it to fresh audiences in the West, thus bridging one of the cultural gaps between India and the Western world. She sometimes invites guest artists from Bengal to perform with her and she is training a select band of European students in these disappearing traditional musical forms. She is presenting baul music, sufi music, different forms of jhumur, urdu ghazals, rabindra sangeet and Nepali songs. A western audience will be introduced to instruments such as duggi, ektara, dotara, tabla, harmonium, dupki, ghungur, kartal, most of them palyed by Papia herself, being initiated by baul gurus.

Accompanists: Pavel Kassai (table), Petr Pudil (dotara) & Mo Dordoh (dupki)
